The body camera market is predicted to grow exponentially over the next few years. Many companies from the most various industries have been adopting the use of body cameras. Now, it’s time for the property inspection industry to join. Jeffery Michel, owner and founder of Integrity Property Inspections, located in El Paso, TX, is leading the industry by using body cameras to document inspections done by his employees and himself.

Jeffery started his company at the end of 2015 right after he retired from law enforcement and the company has been briskly growing since then. In a matter of 3 years, they got to the point of doing up to 2500 inspections a year. That makes them the biggest property inspection company in the city of El Paso, today. But not all is what it seems. “With volume, also comes complaints”, said Jeff, and that’s what motivated him to get body cameras.

“The first week we had them [body cameras] on, after an inspection, the realtor came back and said the seller claimed we broke their window and I said the windows were already broken when we got there. That was probably a $500 or $600 repair, so I said I would check the body camera footage and send it to them, and that was the end of that”, he added. “That right there they [body cameras] are paying for themselves. It’s been working out for us and we love it! It’s a win-win for us”.

The body cameras have also helped Jeffery with reinforcing the quality of his service. “With your cameras, we have the POV headset. Now, wherever the inspector looks, we are filming. If they forget to write a note down on the report, they can go back to that video footage and relive the inspection all over again. Another good thing about it is that I can call one of my inspectors and ask for his video footages. I want to see how he interacted with the clients, how he did his inspections, and if he followed the right pattern. We’re like McDonald’s. If you buy a McDonald’s hamburger on one street, you go to the next town, it’s the same hamburger”, added the founder of the company.

Not only the WOLFCOM body cameras have been helping his company stay away from lawsuits and maintain a superior quality standard, but they also became a new source of income for the business. “Clients wanted to buy the footage, so we sell it to them for $120. If they can’t be at the inspection, we can narrate it to them and, with the headsets, it works out a lot better. We’re doing 10 inspections today and I’ve got 10 cameras going”. According to Jeffery, body cameras became an important part of the company. “If the seller doesn’t want us to videotape, then we don’t do the inspection”, he added.

Testimonials like this are becoming more common with each passing day. It’s a matter of time until the majority of companies start requiring employees to use body cameras. People say change has to start from within, and that’s what Jeffery did. He is a pioneer with a vision that started leading a company and is about to lead an entire industry.
