Dumas Police Department Chooses WOLFCOM® Police Body Cameras

DUMAS, TX- The Dumas Police Department recently purchased 12 WOLFCOM VISION police body cameras. The purchase also included Battery Packs, docking stations and WOLFCOM Management Software.

“We’re happy the Dumas Police Department chose to use the WOLFCOM VISION. We design our cameras to be affordable and configurable with outstanding features that this department appreciates. These police officers have embraced our police body cameras as useful tools in their everyday work. We design our cameras to be the best, because cops deserve the best,” said WOLFCOM Founder Peter Austin Onruang.

Sgt. Nick Jordan researched the police body cameras for his department and helped make the decision to go with the WOLFCOM VISION. “Our Chief decided he wanted to get police body cameras as an additional tool to protect our officers and the public. I researched body cameras for about two weeks. I talked to other departments about the cameras they used and got quotes from different companies. Basically what it came down to was that the WOLFCOM body cameras give you more bang for your buck,” said Jordan.

“Aside from the price, the size and ease of use were factors that made the WOLFCOM VISION body cameras stick out…also the rotating camera lens that allows our officers to configure and adjust the camera to their body types… and the video quality is excellent,” said Jordan.

The department has 26
police officers on the force. “So far there have been no complaints. Our guys like them and like using them. We purchased the first 12 with seizure funds but are budgeted to purchase an additional 12 so we have one for each police officer. Our police body camera policy is that the officers must turn them on when responding to a call. We’ve used them to provide video evidence for our cases that otherwise we would not have. They’ve been helpful in dispelling many complaints. Mainly frivolous complaints mostly involving traffic stops where people come in said the officer acted unprofessionally during the traffic stop, we pull the video and are able to investigate exactly what happened,” said Jordan.

“The officers use them in their everyday report writing. Using their body cameras to review their video has made the officers really factual and enhanced their report writing skills,” said Jordan.
